Tinha conhecimento que em Maio de 1924 realizou-se o primeiro congresso feminista e da educação em Portugal?

Tratou-se do primeiro Congresso Feminista e de Educação em Portugal organizado pelo Conselho Nacional das Mulheres Portuguesas (1914-1947) que decorreu em Lisboa, entre os dias 04 e 09 de Maio de 1924.

Este Conselho foi fundado por Adelaide Cabete (1867-1935), médica obstetra, professora e uma das principais feministas portuguesas do século XX. Os seus principais propósitos consistiram na luta pelo direito da mulher à educação e instrução, ao trabalho, à igualdade salarial e ao voto. Defendeu a defesa da higiene das grávidas, a proteção das mulheres e crianças desfavorecidas e vítimas de maus tratos.

Com destaque na imagem da publicação e a nível internacional surge Paulina Luisi (1875-1949), de nacionalidade uruguaia, foi a primeira mulher médica do Uruguai, professora e ativista feminina. Em 1920, participou no 1º Congresso Internacional da Aliança Internacional para o Sufrágio das Mulheres, em Genebra (Suíça) e no Congresso do Conselho Internacional das Mulheres em Oslo (Noruega). Uma de suas lutas mais importantes foi a eliminação da escravidão branca, a promoção da educação sexual, a defesa dos direitos das mulheres trabalhadoras, a promoção da licença da maternidade e a regulamentação e a fiscalização do trabalho infantil.

Did you know that the first Portuguese feminist and education congress was held in May 1924?

It was the first Portuguese Feminist and Education Congress organized by the Portuguese Council of Portuguese Women (1914-1917), which was held in Lisbon between 4 and 9 May, 1924.

This Council was founded by Adelaide Cabete (1867-1935), an obstetrician, teacher and one of the leading Portuguese feminists of the 20th century. Its main purposes were to fight for women’s right to education and instruction, to work, to equal pay and to vote. It defended the hygiene of pregnant women, the protection of underprivileged women, children and victims of abuse.

Standing out in the magazine and at the international level we find Paulina Luisi (1875-1949), the first woman to earn a medical degree in Uruguay, a teacher and feminist activist. In 1920, she participated in the 1st Conference of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance, held in Geneva (Switzerland) and in the Congress of the International Council of Women, held in Oslo (Norway). One of her most important battles was the elimination of white slavery, the promotion of sexual education, the defense of female workers’ rights, the promotion of maternity leave, and the regulation and inspection of child labour.
