Os loucos anos 20 colocaram em destaque outra maneira de representar a mulher, a partir de qualidades como a individualidade, a elegância, a beleza, as habilidades e as vocações. O papel da mulher na sociedade altera-se e é manifestada por uma reestruturação de funções que são atribuídos a nível social e cultural a homens e mulheres.
Estas mutações de comportamento na sociedade portuguesa refletiram-se na música com o início da participação das mulheres nesta vertente artística em semelhança com os homens.

Guilhermina Suggia (1885-1950), foi uma grande violoncelista portuguesa de ascendência italiana sendo a primeira mulher a fazer carreira a solo e a atingir sucesso nesta profissão com reconhecimento nacional e internacional.

The “Roaring Twenties” highlighted a different way of representing women, based on qualities such as individuality, elegance, beauty, skills, and vocations. The role of women in society changed and was expressed in a restructuring of the duties that were socially and culturally attributed to men and women.
These changes in behaviour in Portuguese society were reflected in music, as women began playing a similar role to men in this artistic field.

Guilhermina Suggia (1885-1950), was a famous Portuguese cellist of Italian descent; she was the first woman to have a solo career in this area and achieve success in this profession, being nationally and internationally acclaimed.
