A PIC é uma câmara fotográfica singular, reconhecida pelo seu formato circular incomum e pela leve estrutura em plástico, que lhe confere um aspeto lúdico e experimental. Equipada com uma objetiva de foco fixo e abertura única, e com um obturador rotativo de velocidade única e pose, utiliza filme de rolo 127, permitindo 16 exposições de 30×40 mm.
Destinada sobretudo ao registo imagens espontâneas e informais, a PIC refletia o espírito acessível e descontraído dos chamados snapshots (fotografia instantânea/ captura de momentos do quotidiano). A sua forma circular e simplicidade técnica revelam uma época em que o design procurava aliar originalidade, leveza e funcionalidade, aproximando a fotografia do quotidiano.
Esta câmara integra a Coleção António Pedro Vicente, pertencente ao acervo museológico do Centro Português de Fotografia.
The PIC is a distinctive camera, recognised for its unusual circular shape and lightweight plastic body, which give it a playful and experimental character. Equipped with a fixed-focus, single-aperture lens and a rotary shutter offering one speed and bulb, it uses 127 roll film, allowing for 16 exposures of 30×40 mm.
Designed primarily for capturing spontaneous and informal images, the PIC reflected the accessible and carefree spirit of the so-called snapshots — photographs taken instantly to capture everyday moments. Its circular form and technical simplicity evoke a period when design sought to combine originality, lightness, and functionality, bringing photography closer to everyday life.
This camera is part of the António Pedro Vicente Collection, preserved in the in the Portuguese Centre of Photography.
